So much to see and do at the 2014 Vegreville Pysanka Festival. I was only able to catch a very small glimpse of the venues and displays, but what I did see was lovely.
Lots of smiling faces, always happy, and energetic music playing somewhere in the distance. Also there was no admission fee for the general public to come and check it out. The main-stage Grand Stand shows are the only ones requiring tickets.
The first stop was the Folk Arts displays in the Social Centre.
There was much more to see, but on limited time, this was the rushed version. Be sure to check out http://www.pysankafestival.com/_ for all the information about activities at the Vegreville Pysanka Festival.
My next stop... the music made me go inside to look, as it didn't sound like Ukrainian Music !?
As you can see from the photos below, it is not only Ukrainian culture at the Pysanka Festival.
The Petting Zoo sounded too cute to pass up. Once inside I was very happy I decided to visit the cute animals. The littlest goat stole my heart for sure, he was so cute.
The 2014 fireworks in Vegreville, Alberta were great this year! We went to the Vegreville Elks / Kinsmen Park to view the display at 11:00 pm and were not disapointed. Surprisingly, the mosquitoes were not that bad either.
So often while we are driving around our small town of Vegreville, I have to excitedly burst out and tell Soren, "remember this place, I want to shoot here" quickly followed by... "oh wait! here too, this is awesome".
Ideas for photos can be found just about everywhere.
Sometimes they are so simple, yet they can result in lovely images with a creative flair. This yellow wall was just begging to be included in some photos.
This is the Vegreville Legion building. They have a mural outside of the HMCS Vegreville, it made the perfect background for this quick shoot.

Simple can be so sweet.
Just on the other side of the very same building was simple grey brick textures and a bright blue door frame.

This year, one half of Olsen Art was invited to a fun and friendly photo challenge held in Edmonton, Alberta.
The location - an office under renovation, this was kept top secret until you showed up with your camera, ready to shoot.
The Model - Lovely Leanne L. from Edmonton, again also top secret until the shoot started.
The Rules - each photographer had 30 minutes to photograph Leanne in the setting provided.
The Results - Kept secret until the reveal party about one month later. At the reveal party, photographers were able to view each others work, and look at a maximum of 3 printed images from each photographer. Then we had a ballot vote on which image we liked best.
Here are some of the images captured in Lynda Olsen's 30 minutes with the very beautiful "Leanne".
After a fun afternoon of visiting, chatting, and meeting a few new faces, the votes were tallied.
To Lynda's surprise, her peers had voted for this image of Leanne.
Thank you very much to the Edmonton Shutterbugs Meet Up group for the invite, the experience, and the Super Model!
